This is only the second tutorial I have ever
written so I do hope
you can understand it. As with any tutorial..different
people have
different ways of using the tools to get the
same effects.
Play with it and see what different things
you can come up with.
Also..I am no expert in PSP and am always learning
new ways of
doing things so if you have any suggestions
or ideas , I welcome
them! *S*
Open a new image..500x500, transparent background.
With your rectangle selection tool..select
a large rectangel area
in the center of your image.
Next...use your flood tool to flood fill with pattern of your choice.
I used this pattern..
Now ..go to Selections...save to Alpha Channel
and save the selection.
We will use it later.
De-select it. Now, using your rectangle
selection tool..select a narrow
area the length of the filled image..
Like this
At this point..I hit ctrl C to copy it
Now..open a new image..500x500, transparent
background, and
paste it on it.
Like this.
Keep it selected and go to ..Image...effects...Drop
Shadow
I used these settings...
Color = Black
Opacity = 88
Blur = 11.8
Vertical = 2
Horiz. = 2
De-select it. Now..using your rectangle
selection tool again..
select the area shown below..
The object here is to delete everything except
the drop shadow to the right,
so be sure you go a little above and below
it.
Now hit delete..I just hit my delete key on
my keyboard.
You should have just the drop shadow left.
It should now look like this.
Now..use CtrlC to copy it..
go back to your original image that you have
filled and
add a new layer..then paste the drop shadow
on the new layer.
I use Ctrl E to paste stuff.
This is what you should have now.
You can now close the canvas you used to make the drop shadow on if you want.
Now..just keep pasting the drop shadow. Moving
over a little each time.
Be sure and watch the top and bottom so it
goes all the way.
It will go over a little but that is ok..we
will get rid of that later.
And space them differently..if you space them
exactly each time it
will look too perfect ! Remember..drapes seldom
crease evenly.
At least they don't at my house..*S*
Now it should look like this
Do not de-select the drop shadow. Now ..go
back over it again and paste
another shadow right on top of a few of the
ones you just did.
Don't do it on all of them ..just a few of
them..to make it look
like they have deeper creases.
Now it should look like this.
See how some of the creases are darker than
others?
Next...do not de-select the shadow yet..
With the shadow still selected..go to image..mirror.
This will mirror your shadow..now copy and
paste this one on all the creases.
lining it up with the other ones you have
done.
Now it should look like this...
Now...de-select the shadow.
Next..use the rectangle selection tool to select
the area
along the bottom..where the shadow hangs below
the drapes.
Example below..
See how the top edge of the selection is even with the bottom of the drape?
Now hit Delete to clean up the shadow that hangs over there.
Do the same at the top of the drapes also.
At this point it is a good idea to hit Ctrl
C then Ctrl V
to make a copy of the shadow layer you just
created.
This saves you from having to remake it and
you can use it
in making your background drapes.
Now you should have a nice clean set of drapes.
*S*
Now go to Layers...merge visible.
Next...Copy..and paste as new image.
Now you can close the window you have been
working in.
